The jQuery Flip Plugin supports both flip directions (left and right) and both orientations (vertical, horizontal) as well.

CSS3 3D transforms are used for the effects, so there's less CPU usage than regular JS-based animations.

If the user's browser does not support CSS 3, slide animations replace the flip effect.

A demo is included with the download package.
